Biblical Jordan with Petra
A 4-day Extension that unveils Jordan’s rich Biblical heritage
Day 1 We will leave early in the morning to the Beth Shean/Sheik Hussein Border and cross into Jordan. Our first stop will be Jerash/Garasa, one of the best preserved and excavated Decapolis cities. Next, we visit the birthplace of Elijah the prophet at Listib/Tishbe. Overnight in Amman.
Day 2 We will start our day with a visit to the Amman Citadel and National Museum, then we will continue on to the historic site of Philadelphia. Heshbon (Tall Hisban) is our next stop, a city which the Israelites took on their way into the Promised Land, later given to the tribe of Gad. We will visit Mount Nebo, where Moses viewed the promised land, see the intricate mosaics in Madaba, and then continue south to our hotel in Petra.
Day 3 We will spend the morning exploring Petra, a beautiful city carved in stone. Then continue to Kerak to see one of the largest crusader castles in the Levant. Next to Bab adh-Dhra, believed by some to be ancient Sodom. Our last stop for today will be at the Hot Springs of Callirhoe where Herod the Great came to bathe. Overnight in Amman.
Day 4 Driving back down to the Jordan Valley, we will see Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John the Baptist carried out his ministry. Finally we will visit Pella, a Decapolis city which was home to one of the earliest churches. Return to the Beth Shean/Sheik Hussein Border to cross back into Israel. Transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for departure.
